“Francis, the Joy of Being a Missionary Church” — A new project from the Secretary for the Service of Faith
One year on from the death of Pope Francis, the Secretary for the Service of Faith is launching a commemorative project that invites us to look back on his pontificate not as history, but as a living call.
Inspired by Evangelii Gaudium, this initiative explores the heart of Francis’ vision: a Church that moves forward, finding its deepest joy not in self-preservation but in encounter — with the poor, the young, the stranger, the wounded earth, and people of other faiths.
The project brings together reflections from contributors from a variety of contexts and areas – pastoral, academic, professional and personal — each of whom explores one of the key themes that have shaped Francis’s missionary renewal: the role of women in the Church, engagement with young people, care for refugees and those living on the margins, integral ecology, interreligious dialogue, and the call to become a synodal and discerning Church.

More than a memorial, this is an invitation. An invitation to ask ourselves how the joy of a missionary Church has taken shape in our lives and in our communities.
Starting tomorrow, 21 April, new reflections will be published every week on the website dimensions.faith.
Please visit the site regularly to read, pray and be inspired by voices from all over the world, each bearing witness to the joy of moving forward.
If you would like to contribute to the project, we would be delighted to receive your reflections, articles or even a simple testimony. You can send your contributions to Mrs Carla Bellone at [email protected].
Thank you to all for your attention and support, and we are grateful to all those who wish to share stories of their own journeys.
